All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona--Phoenix AZ Perna, Florence Florence Perna January 17, 1924 - May 20, 2007 On Sunday, May 20, 2007, Florence Perna (The Mother) passed away at the Hospice of the Valley Gardiner Home. Florence was born January 17, 1924 in Cardiff, Arkansas to William and Verona Clemit. She was raised in Oklahoma and moved to Arizona in 1950. Florence had careers with Safeway and Osco Drug, retiring in 1979. While working for Safeway, she met her husband and best friend, August (Gus) Perna. They married on May 30, 1964. He inherited four daughters and we were blessed with a wonderful Dad & Grandpa. She adored her grandchildren. Having 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great- grandchildren, kept Florence busy just keeping up with birthday cards. Florence and Gus enjoyed 14 years of summers in Munds Park. Card games, group dinners and loving friendships brought lots of joy to her life. Just to know Florence was to love her. She will be in our hearts forever as her beautiful memories will remain with those she touched. She is survived by her husband August M. Perna; 2 daughters and sons-in-law Billye and Rick Schalk of Phoenix, Patty and Leslie Mullinix of Greensboro, NC and Jesse Lowe of Creal Springs, IL. She was preceded in death by 2 daughters: Louvenia Davis in 2000, Linda Lowe in 2006; 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Visitation, Wednesday, May 23, 2007, 5:00 - 7:00 pm with prayer service at 6:00 pm at Phoenix Memorial Park, 200 W. Beardsley, Phoenix, AZ 85027. Internment, Thursday, May 24, 2007, 10:00 am, graveside, at National Memorial Cemetery, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85024 The family requests donations are sent to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
