All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery--Bakersfield CA Rice, Daniel Douglas Graveside services will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd., Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 10:00 a.m.for Daniel Douglas Rice, 92, of Bakersfield, who passed away August 31, 2006 in a Bakersfield hospital. Pastor Gene Archer will officiate. Mr. Rice was born April 29, 1914 in Saguache, Colorado, to Henry Samuel Rice and Elizabeth Douglas Rice. He married Naomi Faye Webb on February 5, 1938 in Oklahoma. Dan moved his family to Bakersfield in 1946. He was the owner and founder of R & S Auto Supply from 1946 to 1961, and later owned Filter Sales and Service. He retired in 1996. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his siblings, Vinita M. Ratcliff, Pearl A. Gorham, Mattie Hite, Winifred L. Klotz, Clifford L. Rice, Charles Rice and George Rice; and his daughter, Betty Ann Lundy. He is survived by his sons, Bob and Johnny Rice; daughter, Karen Sue Drennan; numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren and one great-great- granddaughter. In Dan's younger years, he loved deer hunting in Colorado with his friends, and flying airplanes. He received his pilot's license in 1936 in Tulsa, OK. Later years he was an excellent dancer and loved going to the Mavericks on the weekends. He also loved telling stories about his childhood adventures of being raised in Oklahoma. Dan was loved by all and will be greatly missed. No visitation is scheduled.
