He was born July 12, 1931, in Oklahoma. As a proud Marine, he served his country in the Korean War. He was also one of the original "Smokers" Car Club. During this time, he set a world record in drag racing. Cars were always important to him. He taught auto shop at South High School and in the ROP program for many years. He and his wife enjoyed traveling in their RV with the Hillhoppers RV group. His son, Brian, preceded him in death as did his parents, sister, and twin brother. He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Nila Jean; his daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Dave Friday; and three grandchildren, Brian, Michael, and Halie Friday. A Celebration of Life will be held in memory of Lleon Raper for family and friends on Sunday, September 16th, from 2-5 p.m. For details, please call (661) 366-9040.
