Story Services: Monday, April 2, 2 p.m. Departed this life and into the arms of his Savior, March 28, 2001. Rev. Story spent a life of dedication to the work of his heavenly Father and his endless love and devotion to his family and Gods people. His service and love to them is a legacy that he leaves behind that will continue to teach his loved ones as well as the many lives that he has touched and that were changed through his ministry, teaching us all that in Gods infinite wisdom and love he will always guide us throughout all the trials and heartache, and at the end honor and reward His children. Rev. Story for many years fought a long battle against a chronic illness. Even at the most critical points of his illness he still believed that service to his calling never ceased and found his strength and hope to fight his disease through God. On February 10, 1943 John was entrusted to Rev. William B. and Marie Story, who eagerly awaited his homecoming. Although born in Oklahoma, he resided in the Bakersfield area for over 50 years. John married Margie A. Neeley on February 10, 1962; whom Daddy always said was the most beautiful woman and the love of his life, her deep love and devotion to him was evident throughout his illness and up until he passed from this life into the safety of Gods arms. His loving daughter, Theresa, was the joy of his life and his Little Buddy and Little Princess were his priceless treasurers. John served his country in the United States Air Force with great pride for 4 years. His most honored service however was the ministry for over 30 years, ordained through the Assembly of God. He is survived by his wife, Margie; one daughter, Theresa Story-Hudson and husband Vincent Hudson; two grandchildren, Samuel L. Story-Hudson and Sarah N. Story-Hudson; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Dottie Story; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and John Blanton; mother-in-law, Opal Neeley; sister and brothers-in-law, Mildred and Bob Tatum, Linda and Randy Moss; brother-in-law, Farrell Neeley; sister-in-law, Carolyn Neeley; numerous nieces and nephews. John was a living example of the grace and strength that only God can give. He lived his life with a constant relationship with his Lord and Savior. John would want all who knew and loved him to be rejoicing and happy for him. He has received his reward and will be eagerly awaiting our homecoming in Gods perfect time. Graveside services will be Monday, April 2 at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The Story family wishes to thank all his friends and loved ones who have prayed for him over the years. Our thanks go out to the staff at San Joaquin Hospital for their remarkable caring and his staff of Doctors, especially Dr. Alam, Dr. Brown, Dr. Nyitray and Dr. Shuler. Rev. Ken price will officiate.
