All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Delia Skelton May 24, 1903 Sept. 20, 2003 Loving mother, Delia Skelton, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 20, 2003. Delia celebrated her 100th birthday on May 24, at the Shafter Convalescent Home. She is survived by her sister, Margaret Roberts of Kingman, AZ and three children and their spouses, son Harold and Shirley Chestnut of Klamath Falls, OR; daughter, Glenora and Lonnie Phillips of San Jose and daughter, Betty and Clay Panter of Wasco; eight grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two spouses, Earnest Chestnut in 1927 and Arthur Skelton in 1962 and two infant sons. Delia and her family arrived in Wasco in 1952 from Oregon where they had moved during the Great Depression. She was born in the Oklahoma Territory in 1903, one of nine children to Richard and Alabama Hubble. She also lived in Colorado and New Mexico. Delia was a faithful member of the Wasco First Christian Church for many years and earned extra money babysitting for Wasco families during the 1960s and 1970s. She was recognizable in Wasco driving her 1957 Chevy Bel Air until the early 1990s.
