All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Lakewood Memorial Park--Hughson CA Sims, Orville Clifford ORVILLE CLIFFORD SIMS DEC. 17, 1905 - JAN. 27, 2007 Orville Clifford Sims, Age 101, died Saturday morning peacefully in his sleep at the home of his daughter Teddy Jean Jaspar, where he had lived since April 2006. Orville was a native of Indian Territory on the Texas Oklahoma border. He moved to Utah in the early 30s and met the love of his life, Jessie Marie Hight and they married in 1933. They were the parents of three daughters; Teddy Jean Jaspar (Ernie, deceased) of Oakdale, Cherri Gallant (Paul) of Sonora, Garlande Ann Phipps (Stan) of Wellsville, UT; and son, Nemphes (Bud) Denton Sims, deceased, (Phyliss) of Los Angeles, and Jan Sims of Colorado. He was self employed for most of his life as a master cabinet maker and woodworker. He moved his wife and children to Burbank, California in 1941, where he worked at Lockheed Aircraft during WWII, making wooden interiors for airplanes. They later moved to Oakland, CA and then to Oakdale in 1946, where he raised his family and ran his cabinet shop in Riverbank. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, which he joined when he was 95. He loved his church and the many many friends he made there. He was a long time Mason, serving as Past Masterof Lodge #225 in Oakdale in 1958 and again in 2005. He was the oldest Masonic Master in California, a member of the Shriners and a charter member of the Clampers organization. He was also a member of the Sylvan Club in Modesto for many years. One of his favorite things to do at his church was to sing in the Choir. His favorite quote was, If you wake up without aches or pains, there is something wrong. He never complained of those aches and pains, the weather or what life gave him. He was active and healthy in body and mind until the last day of his life. After 101 years of life he will be missed by many. He always said, The secret to longivity is...keep breathing! He is survived by his 3 daughters, 18 grandchildren, 57 great- grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-great- grandchildren. Viewing will be held on Wed., Jan. 31, 2007 at 10:00 a.m., with Services at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day- Saints on Dale Rd., Modesto.
