Stroud James Melvin Stroud, 82, of White City, died Friday, December 1, 2006 at his home. Mr. Stroud was born in Oklahoma on August 4, 1924. He married Barbara H. (Smith) Stroud in 1947 in Oklahoma. He worked for Chevron Asphalt in Portland and later in White City for 31 years. James enjoyed gardening and had served in the U.S. Navy. He was also a member of the Eagles Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of White City; two sons, Mike Stroud of Central Point and Allen Stroud of Medford; three sisters, Edith Durham of Texas, Ruth Stratton of Oklahoma and Naomi Hyde of Arizona; a brother, Ray Stroud of Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Taina Glick, Tasha Kennedy, Angie Vega, Chanda Vandersnick, Katrina Flynn and Breanne Stroud; ten great- grandchildren, Kirsten Stroud-Vega, Braden Vega, Trace Vega, Elise Vandersnick, Mattie Vandersnick, Carter Glick, Cobi Glick, Everett Flynn, Isabelle Cisneros and Gracie Cisneros. James was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Linda Stroud. Private entombment was in Hillcrest mausoleum. The memorial service will be Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest Chapel. Memorial contributions can be made to the Oregon Heart Association. Arrangements by Hillcrest Mortuary.
