All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Bakersfield Californian Tressie Cleo Taylor Feb. 11, 1911 May 20, 2002 Graveside services will be conducted by Peters Funeral Home for Tressie Cleo Taylor on May 25, 2002 at Shafter Memorial Park at 10 a.m. The service will be officiated by Reverend Orville B. Jones a retired Baptist Minister. Visitation will be Friday, May 24th at Peters Funeral Home Chapel, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday, May 25th 8-9 a.m. Tressie was born on February 11, 1911 to Barney and Maudie Jones in Henrietta, OK. She was raised in Oklahoma, and married Virgil Taylor in 1928. The couple moved to California in 1954. She made her home in different areas in Shafter and Bakersfield. While caring for her family she also helped supplement the familys income by working in the agricultural industry. Tressie was a member of the Church of Nazarene. Her greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Tressie was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil and her daughter-in- law Virginia Taylor, who both passed away in 1995, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Tressie is survived by her sons, Bert of Artesia, Billy Joe and wife Lorraine of Salton Sea Beach, Harold and wife Bertha of San Jose, Larry and wife Linda of Clovis, Gary and wife Chris of Reedley; daughters, Jackie Bowden of Visalia, Jenice and husband Carl Northam of Bakersfield, Willene and husband Dean Calvert of Yuma, AZ; 3 brothers, Orville, Jack and Ray Jones, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Tressie will be missed by family and friends, but resides in a much better place.
