All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Bakersfield Californian Florence Lou Thompson "Sally Casey" Services: Today, April 5, 2:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held today, Friday, April 5th at 2:30 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd., for Florence Sally Casey- Thompson, 92, of Bakersfield, who passed away April 2, 2002 in Bakersfield. Reverend Ron Roberson will officiate. Florence was born in Paris, Texas on December 25, 1909, to Virgie Ann and John Morris. She married Frank Casey and had nine children. Florence, Frank and the family moved from Oklahoma to California during the 1930s when times were extremely difficult and work was hard to find, they not only survived, but Florence did everything she could to keep her children in school because she wanted a better life for them than she had. Florence worked hard all of her life; she worked in the fields picking and cutting grapes, then she finally went to work for Motel 6 where she was a maid for over 20 years until she retired. Florence is a Christian and we know that she is with her Lord in heaven right now. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Frank Casey and Orval Thompson, and three children Betty Casey, Peggy Pauline and JoEtta Nolan. Survivors include her children: Nadine Stephens, Paul Casey, Carol Martin, Don Casey, Linda Casey, and Faye Lohman; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Special thanks would like to be given to her two granddaughters, Cherie Bloomquist and Karen Hamilton, who took care of her the last 4-1/2 years of her life. Visitation will be Friday at Greenlawn Mortuary.
