All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Thiras, Marthajean Our friend and beloved mother, Marthajean Thiras, passed away March 8, 2007 with great dignity at home after a brief battle with cancer. She was born May 2, 1923 in Oklahoma and moved to Los Angeles at the age of twelve. She attended University High School, graduated from UCLA in 1944, and served in the Navy until 1946. She married in 1949 and is survived by her two daughters, Stephanie (Bamford) and Deborah (Thiras). She loved being a mother and remained very close to her daughters throughout her life. She followed her love of world travel, music, gardening, dancing, bridge, calligraphy, crafting and collecting. Marthajean was a pillar of Westwood Presbyterian Church for over 47 years and belonged to many service and social organizations throughout her lifetime. At the time of her passing she was an active member of P.E.O. Sisterhood, The Lamplighters, the Cheviot Hills Garden & Bridge Club and the WPC First Fridays Group. Marthajean was truly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by her family and life-long friends alike. She will be remembered in our hearts always. A memorial service will be held at Westwood Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 17th, with a reception to follow at 10822 Wilshire Blvd., L.A., 90024. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to P.A.T.H. (People Assisting the Homeless) through Westwood Presbyterian Church. Pierce Bros.
