All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Bakersfield Californian Jackie Wallace Services: Tues., May 27, 10 a.m. Funeral services will be held for Jackie Wallace, 71, on Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at 10 a.m., at Pleasant View Baptist Church, 700 South Haley Street, Bakersfield, CA, with Reverend Ezra Turner officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery. Viewing and visitation will be held, Monday, May 26, 2003, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., in The Chapel of Ruckers Mortuary, 301 Baker St., with Meditation from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. In Oklahoma on October 26, 1931, Jackie Wallace was born to Mary Fite and Johnny Wallace. Jackie attended the local Bakersfield schools and obtained his high school diploma from Bakersfield High School. He furthered his education to Bakersfield College, obtained his Associates Degree, then relocated to Sacramento to continue his educational career. He later served in the military. His professional life expanded into many career paths. He was instrumental in developing programs that directly aided this community. All through his life God blessed him to be in positions to help others. Jackie had a great love for sports and will always be remembered as The One and Only B.B.Q. King. Jackies homegoing was on May 18, 2003. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mary Nelson of Beaumont, TX; his sister, Sara Brown of Bakersfield, CA; two daughters, Tammie Jacqueline Wallace of Bakersfield, CA and Lachelle Wallace of Beaumont, TX; and a host of loving family members and friends.
