Welch of Phoenix passed away Oct. 29, 2007. Margie was born June 26, 1922 in Okla. the seventh of 8 children. She came to Phx. as an infant with her family. She grew up in East Phx. and graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1939. She met and fell in love with her beloved husband, Winston, in 1943 and began a life of traveling from coast to coast as a Navy wife. They returned to Phx. in 1961 after his retirement. They began attending Trinity Methodist Church and Margie made many friends working with the Women's Society. She was preceeded in death by her husband of 57 years, Winston and brothers Al, Jim, and Bill and sisters Nellie and Myrtle. She is survived by 2 brothers, Jack and Fred Shumate, her daughter,Sandra and sons Michael and James. She had 5 grandchildren, Kellee, Christy, Heather, Brendan and Tiffany and 2 great grandsons Logan and Jaxen. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was truly the family glue. Her large extended family was her greatest joy and legacy. Whether it was her children, great and grandchildren or her niece, Rachel, who was like a grandchild, we all felt her love. Rest in peace, Margie. Services will be held at 11am Fri., Nov. 9, at Trinity UMC, 3104 W. Glendale Ave., Phx. Any donations may be made to the church or to Wesley Community Center.
