All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Marion Kenneth "Ken" Wight was born in Indian Territory on October 29, 1904, to Albert and Mary Wight. He lived on his parent's homestead in what later became the state of Oklahoma until 1909, when his family moved to Wichita, Kansas. The family returned to their original homestead in 1910 and then moved to the San Louis Valley in Colorado in 1919. Ken moved to Selma, California in 1923 where he met his future wife, Eva Iola Abbott. He worked as a farm hand, a Southern Paci-fic Railroad detective, and upholstery and mattress maker apprentice. He and Eva were married in 1933. He started his own mattress company in 1940, which he ran until 1946. He later invested in and managed a saw mill oper-ation near Groveland until 1947. He used material from the mill operation to build eight rental houses in Fresno. Ken continued in the building industry until his retirement.Ken's wife passed away in 1987 after fifty-four years of marriage.Ken was active in folk dancing, square dancing, and ballroom dancing. He served in various official capacities in the Fresno Apartment Association, Toastmasters International, and the AARP both local and state. He was an avid bowler. Ken traveled throughout all fifty states, most of Mexico and Canada, and various other countries around the world.The family wants to thank the doctors and nurses at Kaiser Perman-ente Medical Center and the Optimal Hospice team lead by Robin Pagenkopp-Deming, Kathy Rumery, Tess Houtz, Janne Harlow, Ann Purcell and Pastor Philip Ensley for the wonderful care that they gave Ken.To all those who shared a part of Ken's life, he loved everyone. His daughter, Gwendolyn, his son-in-law Arthur, his grandsons Gregory and Eric, and his wife Christina survive himVisitation will be held at Palm Memorial Chapel on Thursday, April 26, 2007, and Friday, April 27, 2007, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.A Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 2080 Tollhouse, Clovis on Saturday, April 28, 2007, at 10:00 a.m.Remembrances may be made to Optimal Hospice, 6770 N.
