All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Winton District Cemetery--Merced CA Alex was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years Cicely Robinson, his parents Mary E Delk and John A Williams, his brother Herbert Williams, Son John A Williams, a Merced Police Detective and his wife Rosemary of Atwater, grandson Ryan Jamison, and son in law Bill Doescher. Alex is survived by daughters Mary and her husband Al Peterson, Alice Doescher, Carol Jamison, Francie and husband Jim Lingenfelter, and their son Gil and his wife Toni Williams; 17 grandchildren, 35 great- grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and three sisters in law. Alex came with his family from Oklahoma at an early age. The family settled in the Eastern Sierra Nevada and came to the San Joaquin Valley when Alex was about 15. He met and married his wife Cicely Robinson in 1936. They settled in the farming community of Dos Palos where he was employed by Wolfsen Brothers Ranches for 36 years. He retired in 1975. He and Cicely enjoyed traveling by motor home. Together they enjoyed fishing, hunting and family gatherings. Alex dedicated his adult working life to providing a stable home and family life for his six children. He is especially honored by his family for his dedication to family and the opportunities he afforded them. Each of the six children and most of the grandchildren have achieved various levels of education beyond high school. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Winton District Cemetery. The Williams family thanks all caregivers who loved and cared for Alex during the past two years. You assisted with making his last months and weeks comfortable. Memorial contributions may be sent to California Home Care and Hospice or to the giver's favorite charity. Arrangements are under the direction of Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home.
