Woinoski Sept. 8, 1914 - March 22, 2007 Resident of Martinez Stanislaus Alexander Woinoski, 92, "Pappy", a 42-year resident of Martinez, CA, passed away after a short illness. A recent widower, he was preceded in death by his bride of 66 years, Freda Pauline, 88, this past August. He is survived by his sister, Millie Hadley, 94, Billings, MT; his daughter, Linda Woinoski (Bellato), Martinez, CA; two sons, Stanley, Big Horn, WY, and Robert, Orville, CA; three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Born in Oklahoma, he grew up and attended schools in Sheridan, WY. After graduating from high school, Stan worked in the coal mines near Sheridan as a drag line operator. It was in Sheridan where he met his life's partner, Freda (Leis), whom he married in 1940. Stan enlisted in the Army in 1936 and actively served through 1946. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for his actions in WWII (Europe). His military career in the Army continued in the Reserves until 1974 when he retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After the war Stan worked as an Operator/Mechanic for Peter Kewitt & Sons of Sheridan, WY. In 1965 Stan moved the family to Martinez to work for his brother's Pipe and Drilling Co. Stan was a longstanding member of Local 3, Operating Engineer's Union. No formal service has been planned as per his wishes. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in his name to Vitas Hospice &/or Contra Costa Hospice Foundation.
