Jennie passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease, many of her family gathered around her. Jennie was born in Oklahoma on February 1, 1919 to pioneering parents Ben and Velma Lohrengle, one of six children; raised with love and kindness and a strong work ethic which would later enable her to survive the great depression and "dust bowl" in Oklahoma. In 1935 at age 16, Jennie married Cleo Coleman and began their family of six boys. Migrating to the Central Valley of California around 1940. Jennie worked hard caring for her family and helped with their support by working in the fields and later in the processing plants. Jennie survived the drowning death of her six year old son, Bobby; and later the death of her husband Cleo after moving to Healdsburg. She lost her son Donnie to the War in Vietnam. Jennie loved square dancing and there met and fell in love with Russell Young. They were married shortly thereafter and lived in the beautiful Dry Creek Valley. They traveled, took cruises to fabulous places that Jennie had never had the opportunity to visit; spent time with the family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren! They loved walking in their vineyard, so excited when the first grapes were harvested and chased the wild turkeys that threatened that harvest! When Jennie became ill, Russell cared for her in his very loving and gentle way, he was her memory. He did not leave her side until his death in February of 2006 at the age of 97. Jennie leaves behind a legacy of family; sons Bill (and Dori) Coleman of Windsor; Harold Coleman of Las Vegas, Nevada; Terry (and Carol) Coleman of Burt, New York; Keith (and Lynn) Coleman of Sebastopol; Jennie's sister Victorine Olsen of Healdsburg; nephew Lloy (and Vivian) Thornburgh of Santa Rosa. Jennie's grandchildren, Kim Coleman Callagy of Windsor; Carol Coleman (and Brad) Slender of Windsor; Randy (and Lisa) Coleman of Hidden Valley, Lake County; Donna Coleman (and Fred) Kurzhals of Santa Rosa; Kendra and Krystal Coleman and their mother Chris Coleman of Santa Rosa; Doug (and Gen) Coleman of Fredericksburg, Virginia; Jim (and Jacque) Coleman of Salt Lake City, Utah; LeeAnn and David Coleman of Burt, New York. Jennie's great grandchildren Kirk and Ashley Callagy, Bradley Tyler Slender; Rachel, Sam, and Elizabeth Coleman, Sydney and Ethan Coleman, Brandon and Travis Coleman, and Fredders and Jessica (Brown) Kurzhals. Jennie's great-great grandchildren Cain, Collin, and Savannah Brown. Jennie will be laid to rest next to her beloved Russell at the Geyserville Cemetery so that they may always be "together and close to home". On behalf of the family, our gratitude and appreciation to Jennie's care-givers who enabled her to stay in her home for as long as possible and then to all the staff of Healdsburg Senior Living who kept her warm and comfortable until she was to meet Russell for their "next journey".
