The Oklahoma Clewien's live and lived in what is known as Boston Pool, a rural community between Hominy and Cleveland. From what I've been told all my life, we originally came from Germany. John August Clewien b. 3-24-1842 d. 2-23-1903 in Yesiorke County of Wirsitz, State of Bromberg, Germany and Augusti Alwine Pillet b. 10-11-1848. They were married 11-23-1869 in Shneidemuhl. The details on the story of how the Clewien's actually ended up here is a little lost. The story goes that John and Augusti brought the family over to America and settled in and around Neshkoro and Princeton, WI. Otto, their son, moved to Chicago, IL and met Mary Agnes Casey. They were married and started a family. The story tells that Otto and one of his brothers, not sure which one, got into a little bit of an arguement over a business or something that they were trying to run. Otto decided to move out of Chicago. He is the one that ended up out here in Boston Pool and started a small farm with a few cattle, pigs and crops. According to the story, the original spelling of Clewien was "ie". When Otto moved here, he was a little angry I guess and changed it to "ei". I don't know why, out of stubborness, I reckon. It was spelled with "ei" by my Grandfather, my uncle Sonny and the rest of us use the original spelling. My Great Grandfather Otto Herman Clewien was full German b. 3-4-1881 Neshkoro, WI d. 11-8-1980 Tulsa, OK. Mary Agnes Casey b. 3-22-1888 Limerick, Ireland d. 6-3-1952 Cleveland, OK. Their children together were R.E., Hanora Marie b. 6-10-1915 d. 7-28-1974, Edward Robert "Buddy" b. 3-16-1917 d. 8-27-1929, Alice Margaret b. 12-4-1921 d. 2-8-1992. A brother Gustav born 15-Sep-1883 and died May 1968. A story that I've heard about this place is maybe more of a rumor. I'm not sure if I believe it or not, but back in the old days, out here in the middle of nowhere, it could very possibly have happened. My Dad had heard this from a few of the older family members. He told me that when Otto was doing real well with his crops, he hired two African American men. He had taken on cows, pigs and horses. I guess he had too much to do and coudln't do it himself. He had hired them on and they lived in a small house on the farm. Apparently, one night the two men got in a fight. One killed the other and buried him in the woods behind the house. True or not, I have no clue. It's possible I guess. There were very little residents out here at the time and they were all a ways away from each other, so it was probably pretty easy to get away with things like that out here. There's also a story in the family that there are some caves up behind the house that the Dalton Gang used to hide out in. I've never seen the caves, but my Dad has. Ott's son, Raymond Edward Clewien, farmed Boston Pool. Raymond Edward Clewien b. 6-18-1909 Chicago, IL d. 8-26-1986 Cleveland, OK., married Lorena Maude (Adams) Clewien b. 5-18-1912 Cove, Arkansas, d. 1-26-2000 Barnsdall, OK Lorena had one child Barbara Jean Adams (married names Sarcoxie and Serle) b. 4-28-1931 Boston Pool, Osage County, OK. Together, R.E. and Lorena had 4 more children. Raymond Edward "Sonny" Clewien Jr. b. 7-4-1934 Boston Pool, Osage County, OK d. 4-24-2002 Capitan, NM, Edward Robert "Skip" Clewien b. 3-4-1939 Boston Pool, Osage County, OK, Mary Agnes Clewien b. 8-18-1949 Hominy, OK and Michael Otto Clewien b. 8-6-1951 Hominy, OK.
