Alexander Irene B. Alexander was born on Aug. 20, 1916 to Rosa Ann Bandy Spears and Dennis Spears in Ordway, CO. On May 5, 2002 she entered into eternal rest at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was 85 years, eight months, and 15 days. Irene was raised and educated in Osage and Hominy. She also raised her family in the Hominy area. She was a member of the House of Prayer for many years. She was very involved in her church, she also attended the Assembly of God Church in Hominy. She loved going to the nursing home to minister to the residents. She also enjoyed hosting bible studies at her home along with hymnal singing. She was a great cook who loved flowers. A very caring woman, loving mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, and having her grandchildren around her. Irene is survived by her nine children; daughter Ina Ruth and husband Jim Thrasher of Hominy, son james and wife Wanda Alexander of Sand Springs, son John Alexander of Cleveland, daughter Phyllis and husband Floyd Crenshaw of Hominy, daughter Jeanie Horton of Hominy, son Don Alexander of Hominy, daughter Norma Ray of Hominy, son Raymond and wife Carlotta Alexander of Hominy, daughter Deborah and husband Norman Purcell of Cleveland, one brother Leon and wife Velma Spears of Osage, three sisters Maudie Koenneman of Copan, Ruby Carl of Shidler, Marie Vann of Pryor, 24 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Her caregivers Marie Pippin, Carolyn Prichard, and Norma Jean Peters. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, a great great grandson, and a granddaughter. Services were held at 2 p.m. Wed. May 8, 2002 at the Assembly of God Church in Hominy. Rev. Clifton Phelps officiating services. Serving as Pall Bearers were grandsons Mark Ray, Paul Purcell, Brad Standridge, Jeff Alexander, Dale Crenshaw, and Gary Alexander. Honorary Pall Bearers were Steve Thrasher, Terry Alexander, and Bryan Ray. Music was by Beth and Rev. Clifton Phelps, Shirley Graham, and Wayne Brown. Interment immediately followed at A. J. Powell Memorial Cemetery.
