Powell Memorial Cemetery--Hominy OK The Hominy News - Progress Vol. 34, No. 8 Wednesday, February 20, 2002 Page 5 Mary Jane Ballard Mary Jane Ballard was born in Tahlequah on Oct. 24, 1910 to Mrs. Gertie (Warren) Hayden and Mr. Justin Hayden. Mary went to be with our Lord on Feb. 15, 2002 in Bartlesville. She was 91 years old. Mary was raised in the Okmulgee area and she attended Okmulgee County schools. She married Virgel Ballard and they raised their children in Okmulgee until 1952 when they moved to Hominy. Mary attended the First Assembly of God Church in Hominy until 8 years ago when she and her husband moved to Bartlesville to be nearer to their family. Mary was involved in many aspects of the church from serving as church secretary to Women's Ministries. Mary really loved her grandchildren and family. Mary enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed baking. Mary enjoyed gardening and flowers. She also enjoyed raising Bantam chickens, reading and of course studying her bible. Mary leaves behind 3 daughters Virgie and husband Don Formby of Bartlesville, Pauline Lawhead of Muskogee, Clara and her husband Charlie Hudspeth of Phoenix, AZ, one son Rev. J. R. and wife Jean Ballard, of Wagoner, 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, numerous nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, both her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Services for Mrs. Ballard were Mon. Feb. 18, at 10:00 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Hominy with Rev. Billy Brummett and Rev. Roger Sheppard officiating. Serving as Pallbearers were Richard C. Lawhead, Jimmie Ballard, Jim Hall, Don Formby, Scott Ballard, Dennis Hall, Brad Ballard, and Doug Hall. Honorary Pallbearer was Sharon Stonebarger. Internment was at A. J. Powell Memorial Cemetery.
