Borrell Lillie Frances Borrell was born in Marshall, Ark. July 4, 1915 to Tempy Miranda and Samuel Ellis Ramsey. She passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) Dec. 19 at the Church of the Nazarene in Cleveland, Okla. with Pastor Larry Keiss and Pastor W. O. Boomer officiating. She was 86. Mrs. Borrell was the youngest of six children. All preceded her in death. In 1935 she married John Davis in Hominy, Okla. The couple had three children, Johnny Earl "Jake" Davis, Billie Ruth Lassek, and James Dee "Jim" Davis. The couple moved to Santa Monica, Calif. In 1939. Mrs. Borrell worked as a riveter in the shipyards during World War II. She and the children moved back to Cleveland in 1945. She was known to work as a cook in the cafés in Cleveland 16 hours a day. She raised three children by herself. In 1956 she married Gaylord Lloyd Borrell in Hominy. They moved to Russell, Kan. where "Blackie" as he was known, worked for the Gulf Oil Company. Soon after their move he suffered a severe stroke and Mrs. Borrell became his caregiver until his death in 1980. Mrs. Borrell was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and faithfully attended as much as possible. She was also associated with the Happy Sewing Circle. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gaylord; two brothers, William M. and Theodore Ramsey; three sisters, Leatha Ross, Laura Dennis and Martha Mead; one son, Jake Davis; one daughter, Billie Lassek; a grandson, James Davis; and a granddaughter, Christy Finley. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Joyce Davis of Morrison, Okla.; nine grandchildren, Ron Grimes and Brandi Davis, both of Morrison, Dawn Anson of Ralston, Okla., Joe Davis of Oklahoma City, John Davis of Las Vegas, Nev., Cathy Hutchison of Portland, Ore., Pam Lassek of Tulsa, Okla., Linda Eaton of Jenks, Okla., and David Lassek of Boynton Beach, Fla.; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc. of Cleveland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to John 3:16 Mission in Tulsa.
