Busby, Jr. Earl D. Busby, Jr., age 87, passed away Thurs. Dec. 12, 2002 in St. John's Medical, Joplin, MO. Earl D. Busby, Jr., was born June 24, 1915 in Hominy. The son of Earl D. and Ethel (Malloy) Busby, Sr. He has lived in Baxter Springs since 1955, moving from West Mineral, KS. Mr. Busby graduated from High School in Hominy. He attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. He worked for the Missouri, Kansas & Texas Railroad for 40 years (1935-1975). He worked the last 22 years at the Gulf Plant, formerly Spencer Chemical, where he was an Agent for Missouri, Kansas & Texas, Kansas City Southern & Frisco Railroads. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Baxter Springs, the Men's Fellowship S.S. class, TCU-Railroad Union, Masonic Lodge in Kiowa, and the Baxter Springs Historical Society, where he served as Docent. Doris Louise Taylor and Earl D. Busby, Jr., were united in Marriage on Dec. 2, 1937 in Hominy. She proceeded in death on Aug. 16, 1998. Surviving are his children Robert E. Busby and wife Hanna Busby of Baxter Springs, KS and Marilyn L. Kinsley and husband Michael Kinsley of Lowell, KS; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m. Sat. Dec. 14, 2002 at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel in Baxter Springs, KS. Rev. Joe Lynn Robbins officiated. Burial was at 2 p.m. at the Hominy City Cemetery in Hominy. Pallbearers were Brad Busby, Jeff Kinsley, Matthew Kinsley, Mark Kinsley, Stan Pickering and Chuck Wren. The family received friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the chapel.
