She spent the following 23 years working in the Tulsa Public School system. She retired in May, 1990. During most of her time in Tulsa, Velma and her family attended the Harvard Avenue Baptist Church. It was at this church, Velma met some wonderful ladies - her Sunday classmates. The friendship with these ladies and with her co-workers of the Tulsa School system has continued through all of these years. Velma cherished all of her friends throughout her lifetime. We are sure that she is thinking of all of you.
