He was the son of Earl Thomas and Stella Isabelle Cruzen. Ray was raised in the Terlton and Cleveland areas, attending school in both school systems. Ray graduated from Cleveland High School in 1951. While still attending school and then after graduation, Ray worked for a few years for Merle Edington at the Oklahoma Tire and Supply in Cleveland. He later married Lena Kendrick and shortly there after moved to California. They resided in Live Oak for a short time before moving to Bell Gardens where he worked for many years as an equipment operator for Purex Corporation. Ray retired in October 1988 and returned to Oklahoma where he established his residence in Tulsa and then later moved to Hominy. For health reasons, Ray moved to Cleveland Manor Nursing Home. Ray loved music. He as a self-taught musician, learning to play the guitar and sing without lessons. He was also an accomplished handyman, fixing nearly anything, including small engines. Ray passed away on Fri., Feb. 2, 2001 at the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home at the age of 69 years 9 months and 29 days. He was preceded in death by both parents, four sisters, Norma Mae Cruzen, Maxine Cruzen, Erma Nadene Williams and Versal Allen; three brothers Robert Earl, Murrel T. and Harold Rex Cruzen. He is survived by one son and his wife, Donald Ray and Jessica Cruzen, Riverside, Calif.; one daughter and her husband, Karen and Tom Hudson, Riverside, Calif.; five grandchildren, Jason, Jeremy and Danielle Cruzen of Riverside, Calif.; Jeff and Jenna Hudson, both of Riverside Calif.; two brothers Roy Howard Cruzen, Tulsa and Donald Eugene Cruzen, Cleveland. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tues., Feb. 6, 2001 at the Woodland Cemetery Chapel. Rev. Tom Hudson officiating.
