Visitation: None Service: April 14, 2002 Cemetery: Woodland Cemetery Alice Denby Wade was born August 22, 1924 in Garden City, Kansas. She was the daughter of Arlington and Dorothy Lawrence. Alice was raised and attended school in Garden City, graduating from Garden City High School in 1943. Upon graduation, Alice moved to Lubbock, Texas where she obtained an Associate Degree from Texas Tech. Alice was then married to Carroll Wade on April 14, 1945 in Sebring, Florida as Carroll was stationed there in the Army Air Corp. The couple then retuned to Garden City where they initially raised their three children, Harriett, Carol Ann and John. They moved to Tulsa in 1963 and then on to Cleveland in 1965. Carroll preceded her in death on October 19, 1973. Alice was employed as Office Manager of the Cleveland Area Hospital for nearly twenty-six years, serving as Interim Hospital Administration during a portion of her career. Alice was a lifelong Presbyterian serving as Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, Elder and numerous other positions within the Church. She has been a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cleveland for nearly thirty-seven years. Alice was a fun loving spirit and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed playing bingo and also loved to play cards and Uno. She passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at her home in Cleveland at the age of seventy-seven years, seven months and eighteen days. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Harriett and Col. Gary Shugart USAF, Omaha, Nebraska, Carol Ann and B. J. Svajgl, Somerset, Kentucky; a son and his wife, John and Carrie Wade, Coeur D Alene, Idaho; seven grandchildren, LTJG Tom R. Lunsford III, USN, Alexis Lunsford, Sara Ann Svajgl, Mary Alice Svajgl, Grant Wade, Nicolas Shugar and Ryan Shugart, a sister, Margaret Lewis, Garden City, Kansas; and four nieces. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2002 at the First Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, Oklahoma. A committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at the Woodland Cemetery Chapel. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
