MAHAN OCNS - April 2, 2002 - Graveside services for Allene Kathrine Mahan, 80, longtime resident of Shidler, Oklahoma, were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday (today), at the Grandview Cemetery in Kaw City, Oklahoma, with Reverend Bill Long officiating. Mrs. Mahan passed away Friday evening, March 29, 2002, at the Blackwell Nursing Home. Allene was born September 29, 1921, at Jasper, Arkansas, to Nallen and Rosalee (Harrison) Criner and was reared in the Jasper area. On June 16, 1940, Allene was united in marriage to Orval Mahan and they moved to Shidler in the summer of 1948. Orval preceded her in death on March 11, 1973. Allene continued making her home in Shidler where she was a cook for the Green Thumb program. She enjoyed going to Senior Citizen's functions and being around people. She was a member of the Shidler First Baptist Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She received her Government Equivalency Diploma (GED) from Shidler High School in 1990. Survivors include four daughters: Virginia Davis of Braman, Oklahoma, Carole Carter of Wichita, Kansas, Judy Macklin of Braman, Oklahoma, and Annette Jim of Decatur, Texas; one brother, Johnny Criner of Wisconsin; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Juanita, and a brother, James. Services were under the direction of the McCafferty-Bolick-Green Funeral Home of Blackwell, Oklahoma.
