Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth BEREE died at her home in this city Wednesday night about 11 o'clock after an illness of several weeks with dropsy. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Thursday afternoon at 3:30, conducted by Rev. W.G. Hall, pastor of the Presbyterian church, and interrment [sic] made in the Fairfax cemetery. The large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends that paid their last tribute of respect to the deceased, and the many beautiful floral offerings, attested the high esteem in which Grandma BEREE was held by those who knew her best. Sarah Elizabeth ANDERSON was born April 30th, 1841 in Vernon County, Ohio. She was united in marriage to G.H. BEREE in 1857. They moved to Chautauqua County, Kansas in 1873 and from there to Osage County, Oklahoma in 1895 where they lived a prosperous union until his death in March 1901. Seven children were born to this union, three of whom have preceded her, and four sons survive her. George, Charley and John who reside in Fairfax and who were at her bedside when she passed away, and Tom, whose home is at Newell, Iowa. She had been very strong and active all her life up till the past twelve months from which time she had been failing in health. In July she had a serious illness from which she partly recovered. Three weeks ago she took seriously ill with dropsy and from day to day she gradually weakened until Wednesday evening, October the 15th, she peacefully passed to rest. She was converted nine years ago and united with the M.E. church of Fairfax, of which she had been a devoted and active member since. She set a good example for her surviving children and her devoted helpfulness in the church will be missed. It is significant to say that her last years of life have been the most fruitful to her Lord and her friends. _____________________________________ The Osage Chief Fairfax, Osage County, Oklahoma October 13, 1916: In Memorium [sic] George W.
