The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BARBARA MARGARET SNIVELY OCNS - February 15, 2001 - Barbara Margaret Snively, 85, lifelong resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, February 12, in the Pawhuska Hospital. Born September 26, 1915, in Pawhuska, the daughter of L.O. and Barbara Ann (Reiter) Parker, Barbara married James Wesley "Jim" Sniveley, Sr., on June 2, 1936, in Pawhuska. Jim was the 1956 World Champion Steer Roper, the 1957 Ben Johnson Memorial Steer Roping champion and an original member of Cowboy's Turtle Association, which is now known as the Professional Rodeo Cowboy's Association (PRCA). Jim preceded Barbara in death on September 18, 1998. The Sniveleys were Osage County ranchers all of their married life. Mrs. Sniveley was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Altar Society, the Osage County Cowbelles and the Rug Club. Survivors are: two sons, James Wesley Snively, Jr., of Pawhuska, and Joseph Wyley Snively and wife, Pat, of Howard, Kansas; one brother, David Parker of Pawhuska, one sister, Mrs. Leo (Wilma) Leonard of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Rosary will be recited Thursday, February 15, at 7:00 p.m., in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, 219 East 6th Street, Pawhuska. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 16, in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Pawhuska, with Father Leonard Higgins officiating. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
