"LUCKY" HOWELL OCNS - February 5, 2001 - Bernard E. Howell, 62, passed away Thursday, February 1, in the Pawhuska Hospital. Lucky was born February 6, 1938, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to Garthier Robert and Clarissa (Beach) Howell. He was retired from the United States Army, having served two terms in Vietnam. A member of the Pawnee Indian Tribe, Bernard had served as President of the Indian Club while serving in Germany. He returned to Pawhuska in 1980. Survivors are: his mother, Clarissa Trask of Pawhuska; three sons, Bernard "Buddy" Howell, Jr., of Denver, Colorado, Michael Scott Howell of El Paso, Texas and Patrick Howell of Germany; five brothers, Bill Howell of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Ormand Howell of Owasso, Oklahoma, Homer Fincannon of Duncanville, Texas, Raymond Howell and John Howell, both of Pawnee, Oklahoma; three sisters; Eva Noble of Miami, Texas, Doris Howell and Reba Jo Howell, both of Pawnee, Oklahoma; and other family and friends. Services will be Tuesday, February 6, at 10:00 a.m., in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, at 219 East Sixth Street, Pawhuska, with Donald Stephens officiating. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery with graveside military rites provided by the American Legion and Veteran's of Foreign Wars. Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
