CRAWFORD OCNS - January 11, 2002 - Charles E. Crawford, 79, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2002, at the Pawhuska Hospital in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Charles was born August 25, 1922 in Pawhuska, the son of George Thomas and Julia (Waller) Crawford. On April 15, 1942, he married Maxine Smith in Sedan, Kansas. He served with the Forty-fifth Infantry of the United States Army during World War II and also served during the Korean Conflict. Charles was the co-owner of Crawford Transfer and Storage, a business founded by his father, until his retirement. He was a member of the Wah-Sha-She Masonic Lodge #110, where he was a 32nd Degree Mason. Survivors include: His wife, Maxine Crawford of the home in Pawhuska; his daughter and son-in-law, Caroline and Tim Burd of Pawhuska; his son and daughter-in-law, Charles C. (C.C.) and Angie Crawford, also of Pawhuska; a brother, Lloyd Crawford and wife, Ann of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; a sister, Telitha Edmundson of South Pasadena, California; seven grandchildren, Lisa Chamberlin of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Carla Selky of Owasso, Oklahoma; Jody Burd of Pawhuska; Chad Crawford of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Cory Crawford, Colby Crawford and Chance Crawford, all of Pawhuska; six great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Willard Crawford and Clay Crawford and three sisters, Irene Davis, Doris Sparks and Coranell Crawford. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 14, 2002, at 2:00 p.m., in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Pawhuska, with Pastor Creth Hopkins of the Osage Indian Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery with graveside military rites will be provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Wah-Sha-She Lodge #110 will accord the the Masonic graveside rites. Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
