The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ CHARLES HENRY "RED" RIND OCNS - September 18, 2002 - Charles Henry "Red" Rind, 90, a resident of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, died at 12:20 a.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2002 in the Jane Phillips Memorial Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Funeral services for Mr. Rind will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday in the Arnold Moore - Barnsdall Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Herbert Shreffler and Reverend Clint Mitchell officiating. The Webster Schrack American Legion Post #227 will accord full military rites at the graveside in the Barnsdall Ethel Reese Cemetery. Committal prayers and interment will be directed by the Arnold Moore - Barnsdall Funeral Home. Mr. Rind will lie in state in the Arnold Moore - Barnsdall Funeral Home where friends may call for their visitation until the Saturday morning service hour. A native of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Charles Henry Rind was born March 12, 1912, the son of Charlie Henry and Allie May (DeWitt) Rind. Following the death of his father an mother when he was young, he was reared by his grandparents and his aunt and uncle in the Tulsa community where he completed his education in the Tulsa Central High School. He and his siblings were employed by his aunt who was the owner/operator of the Sunrise Inn. Most of his life "Red" was active in oil field development in and around the Barnsdall community. He was also active, with his brother, H.O. "Bud" Rind, in the transportation of supplies and equipment around Oklahoma, was employed building roads in the Tulsa area and at times, was deputized as an undercover sheriff. A Veteran of World War II, Mr. Rind was enlisted in the United States Army on March 7, 1942 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and received his honorable discharge on January 4, 1946 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He was a member of the Barnsdall Nazarene Church and the Webster Schrack American Legion Post #227. Surviving are his five nephews, Bill Jeffries, William Rind, Charles Rind, Don Rind and Wayne Rind; two nieces, Mary Jeffries and Martha Poentisch, all of Washington (state) and numerous grandnephews and grandnieces. He was loved like a "grandpa" by the extended family of Opal Napier. A memorial in remembrance of Mr. Rind has been established with the Webster Schrack American Legion Post #227.
