WINFRED BEAVER OCNS - April 8, 2002 - Mr. C. Winfred Beavers, 78, of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, retiree of the Phillips Petroleum Company, died at 5:00 a.m., Friday, April 5, 2002 in the Jane Phillips Medical Center. A native of Oklahoma, Clarence Winfred Beaver was born October 9, 1923 in Osage County near Tallant, the son of Benjamin Franklin and Rosa Qumile (Edwards) Beaver. He was reared and received his education in the Barnsdall schools, graduating with the 1943 Senior Class of Barnsdall High School. He later attended the Tulsa Business College where he studied Business Administration. In 1943 Winfred enlisted in the United States Air Force and served until his honorable discharge in 1945. He and B. Virginia Pinney were married November 17, 1945 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma and made their first home in Barnsdall. He was an employee of the Cities Service Company at Tallant, Oklahoma, for seven years before joining the Phillips Petroleum Company in the Research and Development Department. He retired from Phillips in 1985 and he and Virginia continued living in retirement in Barnsdall. Winfred was a member of the Webster Schrack American Legion Post #227, the Pawhuska Oklahoma Wah Sha She Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd degree of the Valley of Tulsa. He was a member of the Barnsdall First Baptist Church and had served as an elected city councilman for the City of Barnsdall. Mr. Beaver is survived by his wife, Virginia, of the home in Barnsdall and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, William Beaver and two sisters, Mrs. Margie Bonnell and Mrs. Delphine Williams. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, in the Barnsdall First Baptist Church with Reverends Joe Reeves, Scott Hill and Jim Brunk officiating. Committal prayers and interment was in the Ethel Reese Cemetery, Barnsdall. Full military graveside rites were accorded Mr. Beaver by the Webster Schrack American Legion Post #227. The Arnold Moore-Barnsdall Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
