Deckard Virgil F. Deckard, 77, of Norman, Oklahoma, died Thursday, August 18, 2005, in Norman, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 22, 2005, at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jess Willburn officiating. Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Richard Davis, Mike Davis, Melvin Slate, Artie Parks, Harry Williams & Raymond Brown. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma. Mr. Deckard was born February 29, 1928, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, to Virgil Jack and Fleeta Alma (Crumrine) Deckard. He earned his GED and was granted a diploma from Pawhuska High School as a World War II recipient. After his service with the military he attended Santa Monica City College and later in life attended Lee College. Mr. Deckard married Florene Woodall on March 1, 1953 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. He enjoyed his career in the communications industry. He moved to Norman in 1992, from Baytown, Texas. Mr. Deckard was a Scottish rite and York Rite Freemason and was also a Shriner. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, Army Aircorps, Marine Corps and the U.S. Air Force He retired from the U.S. A.F. Mr. Deckard was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Arlen Deckard. Survivors include his wife, Florene, and daughter, Alma Constance Deckard, of the home; and brother, James Leroy Deckard, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma.
