She was born on may 25, 1910 in Oklahoma City to Florence and Albert J. Green. She was raised in Muskogee and Pawhuska and finished her last year of school in Hominy High School. She met Donald Ira Duncan in Hominy and they were married on June 23, 1928 by Rev. R. E. Cornelius, Pastor of First Baptist Church. Their witnesses were Helen Kitchel and George Blackwood. To this union were born six children; four sons and two daughters; Donald, Cecil, Jerry, Ray, Joyce and Bernice. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings, Helen, Hazel, and Clarence, she being the eldest of four children. Also preceding her in death was her second son, Cecil Morris Duncan. She was a member of First Baptist Church and taught a girl's Sunday School class in previous years. She was a very hard working Mother, a wonderful cook, and an excellent seamstress and though we would not wish her back, those who loved her will miss her. She is survived by sons Donald, of Portland, OR, Jerry of nampa, ID, Ray of Mustang, OK, daughters Joyce Whitehorn of Hominy, and Bernice Yonlick of Bellingham, WA; there are also 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Services for Myrtle Duncan were held Wed. June 12, 2002 at the First Baptist Church in Hominy. Officiating services was Rev. Mark Wright. Serving as Casket Bearers were Dudley Whitehorn, Anthony Whitehorn, Doug Duncan, Mike Dunlap, Randy Powell, and nappy Cowan. Gerald Lay served as Honorary Casket Escort. Gerry Lay, Barbara Mayo, and great grandson Mason Whitehorn Powell sang at the services, accompanied by Theresa Cowan.
