All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Eaves, Earnest Lamar EARNEST LAMAR EAVES November 4, 1916 January 24, 2007 Earnie was born in Megargel, Texas and at the age of two and a half, his family moved to Oklahoma by covered wagon. They eventually settled in Fairfax where his father tenant farmed on the Osage Indian Reservation. He grew up riding a horse to school and trapping. He would sell the hides from trapping to Montgomery Wards to pay for school clothing. In September 1942, Earnie joined the U.S. Army Air Corp to become a pilot. He was told by a sergeant he would never be a pilot. Earnie would not take no as an answer and eventually earned his license to fly a B24 Liberator when WWII ended. After the war, he worked as a salesman for various paper companies including Zellerbach and Sherman. He then went to work for Pantasote Inc. in the Panta Pak division in Fresno. He was the Western Sales Manager for 21 years, retiring at the age of 70. After retirement, he worked as a part time courier for Clovis Community Bank. While Earnie belonged to many organizations including the California Grape and Tree Fruit League, United Fresh Fruit & Produce Assoc., The Produce Packaging Assoc. and the Tri-County Produce Assoc., he is best remembered as one of the founding members of the annual Tri-County BBQ. His true joys during his retirement were his family and friends, his pets and the many motor home trips he would take with his wife. Earnie was someone that you could always count on to help when needed. He is survived by Sharon Eaves, his loving wife of 30 years; his son, Robert Eaves; his daughter, Betty Eaves Kennedy and her husband Don; and his stepchildren, Randy Ewing and his wife Julia, Ranell Ewing Flores and her husband David and Alesia Ewing Zion and her husband Jim. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Robbie Eaves, Rachel, Jacob and Hannah Ewing, Michael and Dylan Flores, and Tyler and Sarah Zion. Visitation was held on Monday, January 29, 2007.
