All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== The Hominy News - Progress Vol. 34, No. 15 Wednesday, April 10, 2002 Page 5 George Edgar Franklin George Edgar Franklin passed away April 5, 2002 in Midwest City at the age of 80 years, eleven months and twenty-five days. He was born April 11, 1921 at Hominy to Edgar M. and Nellie A. (Holliday) Franklin. He married Berniece Louise Shephard on June 15, 1947 at Hominy. They shared 52 years of marriage. He lived in the Jones Arcadia area for many years. He had lived in the Prue area for 27 years. He was a World War II Veteran of the Army. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base where he was a Jet Engine Mechanic. He had a second retirement from the State of Oklahoma Parks Department. At time of death he was living at the Alterra House in Midwest City. George was preceded in death by his wife Berniece, his parents and a brother Arthur Franklin. He is survived by one daughter Georgia Anna Smith and husband Jerry of Norman; three sons James Edgar and wife Judy of Jones; Doyle Leon and wife Brenda of Roff; and Criss and wife Susan of Jones; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters Billie Schauwecker and husband Kurt and Beulah Schmidt both of Eugene, Oregon; sister-in-law Mary Lou Franklin of Tulsa; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Mon.
