The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ DAMON "DOC" RENFRO OCNS- February 1, 2000 - Damon "Doc" Renfro, 81, was born July 6, 1918 in Charlie, Texas, the son of W.O. and Iona (Benson) Renfro and passed away January 30, 2000 in Duncan Regional Hospital, Duncan, Oklahoma following a prolonged illness. Doc played football at Pawhuska High School and was named to the first All-State Football Team in Oklahoma. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and retired with thirty years service from Phillips Petroleum Company, Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Doc was a member of The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and The American Legion Post 198 and was a former member of the Pawhuska City Council. He was married June 19, 1940 in Independence, Kansas to Betty Cheshewalla who survives him. Survivors in addition to his wife, Betty of the home in Pawhuska are three daughters, Julie Greer of Denver, Colorado, Bette and her husband Don Creel of Duncan, Oklahoma and Nita Grisham of Oklahoma City; a sister, Mary Green of Pawhuska; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Doyle Renfro. "PoPo" was loved and cherished by his Grandchildren and will always be remembered by them for the joy he provided in their lives. Christ went to prepare a home for all of us and now PoPo is with Christ and is at Peace at Last. Rosary will be Tuesday, February 1, 2000 at 7:30 p.m. in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 2, in The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial to follow in the Pawhuska Cemetery. Father Leonard Higgins will officiate under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors. The American Legion and Veteran's of Foreign Wars will present Military Graveside Services.
