Daniel Arthur Whiles

Daniel Arthur Whiles was born July 14, 1919 in rural Pawnee County, near 
Ralston.  He was the son of Henry Clay and Ethel Marie whiles.  Daniel 
attended school at Belford School near Ralston.

Upon completion of his schooling, Daniel began working on farms west of 
Ralston and then later near Hallett.  He was married to Violet Irene Minney 
at the Pawnee County Court House on July 1, 1938.  The couple initially 
established their home near Ralston as Daniel continued working on various 
farms.  He also worked for the WPA for a few years.  In December of 1949 
the couple moved their family to Hallett and in 1966 moved six miles west 
of Cleveland.  They tehn moved to their present location in Crstview 
Addition of Cleveland in 1995.

He began working for the Cleveland Nursing Home as a maintenance man in 
1961.  After a few years, he accepted employment as a maintenance man for 
the hissom Memorial for nearly fifteen years, retiring in the early 1980s.

He loved to play dominoes, fish and work in his garden.  He passed away on 
Sat., March 24, 2001, at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, 
at the age of 81 years 8 months and 10 days.  He was preceded in death by 
his parents and two brothers Howard and Lewis.

He is survived by his wife, Violet of the home; two children and their 
spouses, James and Carol Whiles, Barnsdall and Lola and Charles Fixmer of 
Cleveland; a brother Henry Clay Whiles Jr., Pawhuska; a sister, Anna Mae 
Green, Suffolk, Virginia; four grandchildren, eight-great-granchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wed., March 28, 2001 at the 
Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Ron Driskell officiating.  
Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland.
