Donnie was born April 14, 1954 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma the son of George Donald "Slick" and Betty Louise (Neptune) Sponsler and graduated from Pawhuska High School with the Class of 1972. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and an ardent outdoorsman who loved fishing, hiking and camping. Survivors include: His daughter, Lacey Dawn Sponsler of Edmond, Oklahoma; his mother and step-father, Betty and Don Stuart of Pawhuska; his special friend, Cindy Conley of Bartlesville; his sisters, Linda Sponsler and husband, Dennis Cummings, and Karen Gross and husband, James, all of Tulsa; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. H.J. Neptune of Pawhuska; his uncle, Tom Neptune of Arkansas City, Kansas; his nieces and nephews, Kaylor Gross, Austin Gross and Conor Cummings and a host of other family and friends. Donnie was preceded in death by his father, his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Sponsler, and his maternal grandfather, H.J. Neptune. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 23, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, 221 East Sixth Street, Pawhuska, with Pastor Julie Capranica of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. Johnson Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
