T. MANNING OCNS - September 7, 2001 - Dr. W.T. Manning, 86, passed away Wednesday, September 5, in the Jane Phillips Medical Center, Bartlesville. Wesley Thacker Manning was born, July 27, 19515 in Danville, Arkansas, the son of Grover E. and Fannie (Thacker) Manning. He attended high school in Amber, Oklahoma, and graduated in 1939 from Central State Teacher's College in Edmond, Oklahoma. During World War II, he was a Lieutenant in the Naval Air Corps, stationed at Cabiness Field in Corpus Christi, Texas. In June of 1949, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma medical School (Norman, Oklahoma) and interned at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City before beginning his medical practice on July 1, 1951, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, where he was active until his death. Dr. Manning was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Osage County medical Association and the Osage County Cattlemen's Association. He was a lifetime member of the American Medical Association, and also served as District Representative for the Boy Scouts of America in 1964-1968. Survivors are: His wife, Dorothy Jane Manning of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; two sons, John Manning and wife, Carrie, of Pawhuska, and Alan Manning of Tulsa; one brother, Jefferson W. Manning of Bakersfield, California; one sister, Geraldine Higgins of El Reno, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, John T. , Mark, Ali, Abbey, Ambra, Jacob and Blake and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 8, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, Pawhuska with interment in the Pawhuska City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the First Presbyterian Church or to the Presbyterian Boy's Home, P. O. Box 1056, Hugo, OK 74743-1056 Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
