GERMAN, JR. OCNS - March 22, 2001 - David S. German, Jr., 84, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2001, in the Pawhuska Nursing Home. David was born October 27, 1916, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, to David S. German, Sr., and Dora Bennett German and on December 22, 1939, married Marjorie Ruth King in Pawhuska. At the time of their marriage, David worked for Safeway and in 1942, they moved to Richmond, California, where he worked as a welder, building ships during World War II. They returned to Pawhuska in 1948, when David went to work for the Osage County Soil Conservation District where he worked for forty-two years and was inducted into the Osage County Hall of Fame on March 24, 1994. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pawhuska. Survivors are: his wife, Marjorie Ruth German of Pawhuska; two sons, David James German of Severn, Maryland, and Dennis Dean German of Concord, North Carolina; his daughter, Marjorie Ruth Mecomber of Fayetteville, North Carolina; seven grandchildren; David Silver German, Marjorie Mei German, Katherine Ann German, Alan Keith Mecomber, Adam Kelly Mecomber, Thomas Tervor German and Daniel Drake German; three great-grandchildren; Aiyanna Talkington, Adam Christian Mecomber and Dominic Mecomber and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 23, at 2:00 p.m., in the First Baptist Church of Pawhuska with interment to follow in the Pawhuska City Cemetery. Dr. Larry Wallace will officiate with Johnson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
