Graveside services was held Monday, April 22, 2002, at the Grandview Cemetery in Kaw City, Oklahoma, with Reverend Mark Busch, Pastor of the Brookfield Avenue Wesleyan Church, Ponca City, presiding. Arrangements were under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel, Ponca City. Betty Boone was born April 10, 1927 in Carter Nine, Oklahoma, the daughter of Warnie Smith and Grace (Sappington) Smith. She attended schools at Bryan, Big Beaver and Webb City High School. She married Forrest Walker Boone on April 18, 1946 with the couple making their first home in Kaw City, residing there until 1968 when they moved to Ponca City. Betty was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother who immensely enjoyed the sport of basketball. Survivors include her husband, Forrest, of the home; one daughter, Sherry Stevens, Ponca City; two sons, Bill Boone of Ponca City and Jerry Boone of Great Bend, Kansas; two sisters, Virginia Long of Coweta, Oklahoma and Maxine Crawford of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; one brother, Wallace Smith of Fritch, Texas, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents and two brothers, Ronnie Smith and John Smith preceded her in death. The family will be at the home at 3112 Pecan Road, Ponca City.
