She passed away on Oct. 30, 2001 in Tulsa. She was 82 years old. Etta was raised in Wildhorse. She then went to work for Douglas Aircraft. She met Guy Short at Camp Gruber and they married and moved to Indiana. Later they moved back to Tulsa where Guy worked as a television serviceman. Etta enjoyed working in the yard, gardening and watching wrestling. She was a loving aunt and sister. Etta is survived by one brother Charlie and his wife Ruthie Montgomery of Hominy; five sisters, Nettie E. Bray and husband Wesley of Skiatook; Wanda R. and husband Albert Butcher of Barnsdall; Pauline B. and husband Archie Carter of Hominy; Ruby M. Jones of Tulsa and Flossie and husband Sonny Bass of Shreveport. LA; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Etta was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers Roy Montgomery, Carl Montgomery and Clark Montgomery. Services for Etta Short were held Fri., Nov. 2, 2001, graveside at A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy.
