Effie was born May 16, 1906, in Fairfax, Oklahoma, to Eva Middlebrook Uto and Jack Uto and was reared and educated in Fairfax, graduating from Fairfax High School. She married J.W. Severns in 1930 and they started a family. J.W. worked on pipelines, traveling all over the United States. They bought a farm in Osage and farmed up until 1970, when J.W. passed away. Effie stayed on the farm for a few years until she decided to move to Hominy, Oklahoma, where she made her home until her health began to fail. She made the most of her last few years living at The Cleveland (Oklahoma) Manor. Some of Effie's favorite things throughout her life were sewing, quilting, crocheting. She also loved to cook and was a great cook; she enjoyed working in her garden and loved to watch her flowers grow. Effie leaves behind a daughter, Billie Robinson of Hominy; a grandson, Rodger and his wife Deanna Robinson of Prue, Oklahoma; a grandson, Richard Robinson of Hominy; a grandson, Marshall and his wife, Judy Robinson of Hominy; a granddaughter, Cynthia and her husband, Kenneth Robertson of Hominy; a brother, Bill and his wife, Mary Uto of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; a brother, Cecil Uto of Boca Raton, Florida; twelve great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Mrs. Severns was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John William Severns, two brothers and a sister. Services for Effie Severns will be held Wednesday, March 13, in the Fairfax Cemetery with Minister Coy Everett officiating. The family entrusted Powell Funeral Home of Hominy with service arrangements.
