Irene was born June 15, 1907 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, the daughter of James Madison and Dema Catherine (Rosser) Payne. November 25, 1927, in Hominy, Oklahoma, she married Roy L. Fountain who preceded her in death November 7, 1984. Irene was a pioneer telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone and served as a Sunday School Teacher for forty-five years. Survivors are: Her daughter, Geraldine Enyart and husband, Sie of Pawhuska; three grandchildren, Sie E. Enyart, Jr. and wife, Deborah, Susan Enyart Ray and husband, Mike and Shelley Enyart Farquharson and husband, Marty; four great grandchildren, Kelly Enyart, Deborah Ray Miller and husband, Travis, Amanda Ray Ryder and husband, Stuart, and Morgan Farquharson; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 12, in the Pawhuska City Cemetery with Pastor Julie Capranica of the First United Methodist Church of Pawhuska officiating. Johnson Funeral Home, Pawhuska, is in charge of arrangements.
