HEMBREE OCNS - July 31, 2002 - Farrell F. Hembree, 74, longtime resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away at his home Monday, July 29, 2002 following a lengthy battle with cancer. Farrell Fredrick Hembree was born march 1, 1928 in Blackwell, Oklahoma, the son of Floyd R. and Gladys (Grissom) Hembree. He graduated from Mound Valley High School with the Class of 1947. Farrell served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and May 24, 1953, he and Barbara Florene Green were married in Cedar Vale, Kansas. While in Cedar Vale, Farrell worked as a a lineman for the Cedar Vale Rural Electric Association. In 1963, the Hembrees moved to Pawhuska where Farrell worked as a lineman for the City of Pawhuska then later as an electrical contractor. He was a carter member of the Pawhuska Elks Lodge #2542 and a member of the First Baptist Church in Pawhuska. He enjoyed hunting fishing and football and had coached little league baseball teams. His greatest pleasure was watching his grandchildren as they participated in school and sports activities. He will be remembered as a very caring and loving husband, father and grandfather. Survivors are: His wife, Barbara of the home; two children, Trisha Kay Robison and husband, Terry of Heron, South Dakota, and Greg Hembree and wife, Elizabeth, of Pawhuska; two grandchildren, Tyler and Morgan Hembree of Pawhuska; his mother-in-law, Lorena Green of Cedar Vale, Kansas; a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Farrell was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Lance J. Hembree. Services will be Thursday, August 1, in the First Baptist Church of Pawhuska with Dr. Larry Wallace officiating. Graveside military rites will be conducted in the Pawhuska City Cemetery by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Johnson Funeral Home, Pawhuska, is in charge of arrangements.
