"RUSTY" GILLILAND OCNS - July 8, 2002 - Lifelong resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, George C. "Rusty" Gilliland, 64, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 6, 2002, at his home in Pawhuska. Rusty was born September 16, 1937, in Pawhuska, the son of Chester George and mary Agnes (Strikeaxe) Gilliland. He attended school in the Pawhuska and Nelagoney (Oklahoma) area. He was a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, the American Quarter Horse Association, the Pawhuska Elks Lodge #2542 and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Rusty was a veteran of the United States Army. Survivors include: Three daughters, Kathy Gilliland Russell, Julie Gilliland O'Keefe and Jackie Gilliland; three sisters, Olivia Denison, Nancy Reber and Freda Moore; two grandchildren, Kylee Russell and Sonny Gilliland and a host of other family and friends. Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 8, 2002 at the Wakon Iron Community Center, Indian Camp, Pawhuska. Funeral Mass will be recited at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 9, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pawhuska with Father Bruce Brasnahan officiating. Rusty will lie in state at the Wakon Iron Community Center, Pawhuska until service time. Interment will be in the Nelagoney Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home, Pawhuska, is in charge of arrangements.
