Lena E. Hill

Lena Elizabeth Hill, daughter of Fred and Lou Ann (Sears) Hight, passed 
away on Tues., May 22, 2001, at UCH Hospital, Tampa, FL., due to an 
extended illness.  She was 79 years of age.

Raised entirely in Hominy, she attended school here and graduated from 
former high school, Mound Valley, in the spring of 1940, one of her 
proudest accomplishments.

Lena married Othel "Arkie" Hill on March 25, 1943, in Hominy.  There they 
continued to make their home and raised two sons together, until Othel's 
sudden death in 1965.  He was 46 years old.

Lena worked over three decades as a full-time nursing assistant at the 
Hominy Nursing Home.  She also worked many years as a part-time cashier at 
the Hilltop Drive-in, during those three decades.

Lena left Hominy in 1991, to join her eldest son and his family in Tampa, 
FL, and has returned home to Hominy for her final place of rest.  May she 
rest in peace.

Lena leaves behind two sons:  Bobby Ray and wife Rita Hill of Tampa, FL 
and Thomas Frederick Hill Sr. of Hominy; four grandchildren, Ms.  Sheryl S. 
Hill of Pawhuska, Jeffrey W. Hill, Ms. Christina S. Shadid, and Phillip O. 
Shadid, all of Tampa, FL; three great-grandchildren, Peter R. H. McGonigal 
of Pawhuska, Alicia J. Samaniego, Joshua A. Samaniego, both of Tampa, FL; 
two sisters, Mrs. Ira (Mary) Horton, of Bethany; Mrs. Joe (Frankie) Hilt 
of Skiatook; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Bill (Vivian Westelline) Hight, of 
Apache; one brother-in-law and wife, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. (Vera) Hill, of 
Ardmore, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, her husband, her eldest 
grandson, Thomas Frederick Hill, Jr. and one brother Bill Hight Sr.

Services for Mrs. Hill were Sat., May 26, 2001 at A. J. Powell Memorial 
Cemetery.  Officiating services was Reverend Mark Wright.  The family 
entrusted Powell Funeral Home with service arrangements.
