All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== The Hominy News - Progress Vol. 35, No. 18 Wednesday, May 1, 2002 Page 5 Frances Holding Frances (Let O Wi) Holding was born on Jan. 19, 1915 in Hominy, to John Oberly and Sarah Petsemoie Oberly. She went to be with the our Lord on April 27, 2002. She was 87 years old. Frances was raised and educated in Hominy. She was married to Joseph Abbott Sr. until his death in 1953. She then married Homer Holding in 1955. They were together over 40 years until he passed away in 1997. Frances was a member of the Osage Women's Cattle Association and was an American War Mother. She was very involved in Oklahoma Politics favoring the Democratic Party. Frances always looked forward to the Ilonshka Dances and wanted to make everyone feel welcome at her camp. She was a member of the Friends Church where she was a devoted lifetime member. Frances loved to travel worldwide and had traveled to such places as Hawaii, Europe, and Australia. She was the last surviving child of John and Sarah Overly's six children. Frances is survived by a son Joseh B. (Sonny) Abbott Jr. and wife Ann of Tulsa; a granddaughter Sutton Rae Abbott of Tulsa; step-sons Homer Holding and Dave Holding of Hominy; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph Abbott Sr.; husband Homer Holding; and five brothers and sisters. Services for Frances were held Wed. May 1 at 9 a.m. at the family residence and 10 a.m. at the Friends Church with Harry Red Eagle Jr. and Rev. David Nagle officiating. Pall Bearers were Walter Hopper Jr., Fidelis Davis, Frank Oberly, Scott Lohah, Andrew Gray, Jimmy Jones, Harrison Shackelford, and Silas Satepauhoodle. Honorary Pall Bearer was Mark Hopper. Interment was held at A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery.
