John was born on Sept. 27, 1949 to Delphine Harragarra Hopper and the late John Hopper, Sr. John was a man with a good heart, who enjoyed laughing and teasing with family and friends. John strived to get along and help others. He will always be remembered by his family and friends for his kind and peaceful ways. John attended Hominy Schools for twelve years, where he graduated with the HHS Class of 1968. John attended NEO College in Miami and Denver Community College, where he graduated as a Medical Technician. In Colorado, John worked as an X-ray technician for four years before returning to Oklahoma to work for the Osage Tribe. The last fifteen years, John has been employed at the Otoe-Missouria Tribe. John loved being involved in both the Osage and Otoe-Missouria tribal activities. He was an active member of the Hominy In-Lon-Shka Committee. John loved the OSU Cowboys, as well as the Hominy Bucks. John enjoyed coaching and playing softball, watching Frontier basketball games, going to Pow-Wows, and playing golf. John and Antoinette Bernal were married on December 20, 1997. John and Antoinette made their home in Ponca City. John is survived by his wife, Antoinette of the home; his mother, Delphine Hopper of Hominy; one brother, Danny Hopper of Hominy; three sisters, Martha Elliott, Mary Hayes, Jan Gaebler and husband Carl, all of Hominy; great-aunt Francis Holding of Hominy; two aunts, Marilyn Dailey and husband Louis of Hominy and Delores Harragarra of Carnegie; two uncles Mark Hopper of Skiatook and Fred Hopper and wife Marilyn of Tulsa; five sons, Chip Fairmont and wife Robyn of Kansas City, Missouri; Tony Fairmont and wife Mandy of Sand Springs; John Andrew Hoper of Pawhuska; Jim Hopper of Hominy; Jess Hopper of Udall, Kansas; two daughters, Laura Sage and husband Louie of Lawton; Frances Sue Hopper of Marland; two step-children Tara Littlecook and Little Bear Littlecook of Red Rock. John is also survived by eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and other relatives. John was preceded in death by his father, John Hopper, Sr. A traditional funeral feast was on April 18, 2001 at the Otoe- Missouria Tribal Complex.
