Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Gale Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Hughes was born June 2, 1941, in Amarillo, was raised in Dalhart and moved back to Amarillo in 1965. She retired after 15 years in retail sales, working for Sakowitz and Dunlaps. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Valle de Oro. She loved to sing and sang at several functions during her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Christine Wallace; and a sister, Linda Cheryl Wallace. Survivors include three daughters, Shelly Brooks, Jamie Marrs and Lorrie Rouse, all of Amarillo; a son, Craig Marrs of Amarillo; five sisters, Carol Hoyo of San Antonio, Sue George and Peggy Walker, both of Amarillo, Donna Henderson of Dalhart and Eva Donovan of Fairfax, Okla.; and five grandchildren, Mykla, Whitney, Dillon, Tyler and Colton. The family suggests memorials be to American Cancer Society, 3915 S. Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109; or American Heart Association, 2404 W. Seventh Ave., Amarillo, TX 79106. The family will be at 908 Sunset Terrace.
